Puget Sound, Washington Periodontist - Ken Akimoto, DDS - Bellevue, WA Periodontics

Dr. Akimoto was born in NY and raised both in the US and Japan.  He graduated from Tokyo Medical and Dental University with his dental degree in 1989.  Upon graduation, he practiced General Dentistry.  From 1992, he worked as the market consultant for Nobelpharma Japan, consulting dentists about implant dentistry.  In 1995, Dr. Akimoto was accepted into the post-doctoral Periodontal program at the University of Washington where he completed his training in 1998.  He received his Master of Science in Dentistry at UW.  His implant research was awarded with the prestigious Osseoitegration foundation dental implant research grant as well as the oustanding implant research award from the California Society of Periodontists.  In November 2000, Dr. Akimoto became a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.  Dr. Akimoto is an Affiliate Assistant Professor with the Department of Periodontics at the University of Washington and an elected Fellow of the International Team for Implantology.  When Dr. Akimoto isn't treating a patient or teaching at the University of Washington, he enjoys swimming, fishing, cooking and a stroll with his long haired miniature dachshund.
